  • Procurement is the busiest leadership function. 43 roles, driven by data-centre builders, chipmakers and banks, as tariff and energy risk put sourcing squarely on the board agenda.

Themes from the first edition

What the regional market is telling us

A hub-and-spoke leadership market

Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai hold the regional mandates, while Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam hire the country and plant leaders who make those mandates work on the ground. In the October 2026 edition, Singapore led with 33 roles (17 with a multi-country remit), and nine of Hong Kong's eleven roles were regional or global.

Procurement is on the board agenda

Procurement & Sourcing was the biggest leadership function at 43 roles. Data-centre builders, semiconductor manufacturers and banks were all hiring senior procurement leaders, against a backdrop of pending US Section 301 tariff rulings and energy costs that have become a standing line item.

The AI build-out is redrawing the manufacturing map

Taiwan, Japan and South Korea all posted September manufacturing PMIs well above 50, and electronics manufacturers across Singapore and Malaysia's Penang, Johor and Kulim corridor were hiring at the top. Twenty-one of the 47 multi-country roles carried a global rather than APAC remit, a sign that for many manufacturers Asia is now the headquarters of the supply base.

Disruption experience is currency

With Hormuz still largely closed, Brent back above US$100 and freight rates split between a softening Asia to Europe trade and a tight transpacific, regional boards want leaders who have re-routed and re-sourced under pressure. 3PLs including DHL, Maersk, KLN, AIT, Flexport and DP World were all rebuilding their regional leadership benches.

Planning hides in the hidden job market

Just two senior Planning roles were advertised. At this level, regional Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Integrated Business Planning (IBP) leaders tend to be appointed through networks and search rather than job boards, so the hidden market is genuinely bigger than the visible one.

If you're an Australian or New Zealand leader weighing up a regional move, or you're hiring for an APAC remit from Sydney, talk to a specialist supply chain recruiter who knows both sides of the market.
